Landlords Energy Saving Allowance

From 6th April 2004, landlords who let residential property will be able to claim a deduction for income tax purposes up to £1500 for each property in respect of capital expenditure for installing loft or cavity wall insulation.

Change to the Law on Jointly Owned Property

From 6th April 2004, income from property that a married couple own jointly will be taxed according to their actual ownership. Previously, unless an election was made for the income to be taxed according to ownership proportions, it was automatically split 50/50.
